Safeguarding Policy
At Hurricanes Dragon Boat and Paddle Club, we are committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our members, especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We believe that everyone has the right to enjoy our sport in a secure and supportive environment.
We have adopted the British Dragon Boat Association's (BDA) Safeguarding Policy, which outlines clear procedures and guidance to protect individuals from harm. The policy covers essential areas such as:
Recognising and responding to signs of abuse
Ensuring safe recruitment and training practices
Establishing clear reporting mechanisms for any safeguarding concerns
Promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity
All members, coaches, and volunteers are expected to familiarise themselves with the BDA Safeguarding Policy and adhere to its principles.
For more information, please refer to the full BDA Safeguarding Policy and accompanying guidelines via the links below:
If you have any safeguarding concerns, please contact our designated Welfare Officer, Roz Jebson, either privately, through the confidential contact button below, email: safeguarding@hurricanes-dbc.com or speak to a club committee member.
Roz has successfully completed the NSPCC Safeguarding course, acquiring the necessary knowledge and expertise to effectively manage and respond to safeguarding concerns. She is also fully DBS checked.
Together, we can ensure that Hurricanes Dragon Boat and Paddle Club remains a safe, fun, and inclusive space for everyone.
