Great River Race 2013
Always an early start, but always worth it, the Great River Race 2013 proved to be one of the Hurricane's Best River races.
The boats and minibuses set off from the club house at stupid o’clock and made it to Docklands with hours to spare! For the first time ever, a supporter’s bus was coming along for the spectacle. Sadly their day was to be marred by traffic jams but the show went on nevertheless.
Preparing ours and Ebay’s boat took a little time, but bacon sarnies and coffees helped pass the time.
It was time to set off and view the hundreds of other craft on the Thames. Conditions were fair and we managed to get to Tower Bridge with minimal bailing.
We paddled well as a team, battling it out with the ‘Concrete Dragons’ and crossed the line in 7th position, 4th dragon boat across the line.
A Great Party afterwards proved that the Hurricanes work hard and play hard!
